Did you know that when you ask God for clarification, answers or guidance, God gives you just that? You don't even have to beg or plead, you only need to ask. That's it. Turn to HIM and ask!
I asked.
Just a few days ago I posted about our conundrum with Axel's education. We (mostly "I" since Dean pretty much leaves this stuff up to me.) were just lost about what to do with him given the complex little man that he is.
The very night Axel had his MRI done, I prayed, asking God to give me direction on the decisions we need to make. Now, when I ask for direction, I also ask God to please make it perfectly clear since I'm not so good at seeing subtleties or reading between the lines. I need concrete, black and white, road block with flashing red lights on the wrong turn and green lights with "TURN HERE" signs on the right turn.
Many of you commented here or on facebook, asking about the possibility of homeschooling Axel instead of sending him to school. "No no no" I said. Not an option because there is "stuff" going on. I don't have TIME to homeschool him.
The next day we got the phone call that took our boat, picked it up out of the water, and turned it an entirely different direction.
God said, "Oh, you have TIME alright, because I'm going to make you TAKE the time. In fact, you will spend the next 6 months bonding with this child in ways you never imagined. I brought you to him, and him to you because I knew that you could teach him what he needs to know, and there is plenty you need to learn about yourself. Here is your path, now walk it."
You see, Axel can't go to school with the halo on. Even if he could, it's not really the introduction to school that I imagined for him. No, Axel will be staying home with me, while also receiving home-bound school services. (which will only be a couple hours a week, at best!) We might go do some things at the school now and then, but that's about it.
I asked, and God made His answer pretty clear, don't you think? Funny how He does stuff like that.

I home school all of my kids. When Kaydee came home in August 2009 I was going to put her in pre- school, and God showed me how valuable it was to keep her home with the other kids and me. It is amazing looking back how that time at home helped our bond. Even though Kaydee has Cerebral Palsy and a significant speech delay, her english language skills are very good and she is excelling in all areas of learning. Home schooling is a very personal choice, just like adoption. You really need to feel in your heart that it is what you want and need to do. Even if Axel goes to school in the future, I think this time at home with Axel will be awesome for both of you!!
