Threats and Disclaimers

Based on things happening with other people in the adoption community who have spoken up recently, (false reports of tax evasion to the IRS, false reports made to child protective services, false reports to immigration.) I feel the need to say this: I WILL NOT PLAY THAT GAME!

Every day of the week there are people in our house (PCA's, behavior specialists, county social workers) who know exactly what kind of care our children get, not to mention our children's teachers who see them every day, doctors who see them on a regular basis, etc. If there were something horrible happening in our house, it would have been reported by one of these many mandated reporters a long time ago.

If there are threats made against my family, including false accusations to the IRS, false reports to child protective services, false claims that affect the traffic to my paid blog or anything else we will know based on the timing of said reports exactly from where they come. I WILL NOT PLAY THAT GAME.

I am just wondering...you adopted yourself...why are you doing everything possible to prevent others to do the same? Why so much hate is in your soul? I will be praying for peace in your heart as nobody needs this war. All we want is to save these kids...they have no chances to be adopted in their countries.

Really? MANY do! Did you know many Ukraine families have been -in sense -blocked from adopting these kids because they can't come up with the tens of thousands of dollars the American families do? I agree they need to get into families but I will say it again: the illegal activities are what will shut down adoptions to Americans, not one person speaking up about the illegal activities. Adopting families took a step out of their comfort zone by deciding to adopt in the first place. Why can't they do another and LEGALLY do a blind adoption and get over their need for a darned picture?

It is the flagrant and arrogant acts of people breaking foreign laws that risks these children never finding homes in America. These countries can shut their doors to Americans forever, if they choose, and don't fool yourself into thinking there will be no homes for these children. European families follow the rules and it is no coincidence that a European family will have a smoother, quicker and less expensive process (travel removed from the comparison) than Americans do.

If you want to pray for something, pray that these organizations will commit to turning around their practices and adibe by the laws of the countries whose cooperation we need to get these children home.

I just want to say I'm sorry that you are dealing with nasty people. You don't deserve that.

I am Russian and I know for sure that the Russians and Ukrainians pay NOTHING to adopt a child in their own countries. Indeed, they are getting money from the Government if they adopt or foster a child. Unfortunately, the kids with mental or physical disabilities are not being adopted even with the substantial grants from the Government. They will end up in the institutions if not saved. I know a lot about the adoption process in Russia and the critical situation of the orphans with disabilities as I lived there all my life and was involved in many charities for the orphans.

I don't disagree with that. Russians are coming around to adoption but there is still great stigma about disabilities. That's why it's crucial not to get adoptions shut down by breaking the law. If you are Russian then you may be aware that a Russian volunteer organization is already under investigation in Russia for sharing actual medical records copied from childrens' files. That will be handled in Russia but will most shed a spotlight on the organizations here who are mishandling that information.

Wow, I hope people will leave you alone! Unbelievable! There's something very wrong with people if they are inflicting so much harm to others.
