I watched, and I waited. I didn't have to wait very long, because these two were in a hurry! I haven't seen the female for a couple of days, so I'm sure she's sitting on eggs now. Each time they came out of the hole, they had a beak-ful of shavings from inside. They have to clean out that hole for the babies that will be here soon!
See the bird waiting on the branch? He's waiting for the female to come out of the hole, then he'll go in. If you look closely you can see the tip of the female's tail in in the hole.
They came out of the hole like little rockets!
Guess what I'll be watching for the next few weeks? Between the humming birds and the chickadees, my camera is gonna be busy this spring!

That's really neat Leah!! Looking forward to seeing the hummingbird ones (I pressed your link for your previous hummingbird post) you come up with this year!! :) Blessings, Jennifer
I'm becoming a real sucker for birds... which cracks me up because I used to make fun of bird watchers. But aren't they SO COOL?! I love them. You have some great ones too. I can't get over that hunter in a more recent post. Over here, it's mostly seagulls, egrets and an occasional hummingbird.
