The Neglected Child

A few weeks ago someone left a comment on my blog saying that I seem to have forgotten I have THREE kids at home right now, and that nothing much has been said about Angela lately. Based on a blog post I see this same person must have left a similar comment on another friend's blog. Really? I have the feeling you don't have a blog of your own to post all kinds of stuff about your  kids for the whole world to read. Let me explain something to you:  This is MY blog. It's what I choose to write, not what I choose to live. When you watch a reality TV show, do you expect you're getting the whole story in those few minutes??? Well, YOU probably do. I'll let you in on a little secret: YOU'RE NOT.

While Angela loves when I post stuff about her on my blog, she is in high school, and there are parents, teachers, and classmates of Angela's who read here. It would be lovely to think the whole world loves and adores all my children but I'm not that stupid. Not everyone who reads my blog does so because they adore Angela and want to know more about her.  High school can be a very cruel environment sometimes. That all make makes me very selective of the things I choose to post about her.

Then lets talk about who's in front of the camera more. Lets face it, Angela is at school all day, then goes from there to practice for whatever sport is going on at the time. Four days a week she walks out the door at 6:45 a.m. and doesn't come home until 5:00. Then she spends every-other-weekend with her dad so two Friday's a month she leaves for school at 6:45 a.m and I don't see her again until Sunday evening. Axel leaves at 7:30 and gets home at 3:30....or 5:15 if it's a therapy day. Then we race around getting dinner, showers, and everyone to bed before we do it all again, but only if we don't have other stuff happening. Then there is Asher who his home with me all day long and my phone/camera is always within arms reach.

Now, I'm going to pay attention to the ASHER who is laying in a hospital bed while Angela and Axel are being completely neglected. Oh wait! They're at their friend's cabin having the time of their life and are thrilled its not THEM in the hospital bed.

YOU GO LEAH! You are doing a great job and I TOTALLY agree about anonymity being required at times. There always seems to be someone who has something negative to say on these blogs.. Me thinks there is some jealousy or such going on there... Keep on keeping on girl; you are doing just fine....and big hugs from me to you, Dean and of course double hugs (gingerly no pain to any orifice) for big boy Asher-

There are certain children I never write about. They are there and very muchg part of my family, part of my life, but they don't want to be mentioned. Or if they don't mind mentioning, they don't want more. And I respect that.

It's not that I love them less. It's just that they need their privacy.

Very well written post, again, Leah!

I hope Asher gets to feel better soon!

To those who think they are being cute or helpful by "reminding" moms that they have neglected their child or to tell them what a bad parent they are, I just DARE you to walk an hour in their shoes before you make yourself look so unintelligent and mean!
Please remember two rules when commenting on blogs--especially blogs of moms whose kiddos have special needs: 1) golden Rule: Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. 2) Thumper's Rule: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

And patiently waiting... said...

Great post...someone said something similar to me. Highlighting one child over the other. Yes, the author gets to chose what is written. Don't like it don't read it!

No explanation ever needed. People are awful. Just this week my friend's car got broken into in Pa and they took her son's wheelchair and all his medical supplies. Then they destroyed them. He has CP and an inoperable brain tumor. His life expectancy is almost up they say. Then another friend who is going to Bulgaria to rescue two more gorgeous kids just got turned in to CPS for medical neglect. satan sucks. Please pray for her. If you want her blog info just message me at ashleelinnea at gmail dot com. I am not on fb right now. Ugh. Im sorry you had some crappy comments. I pray the Lord blesses you and the commenter.

Be blessed

Ashlee

Don't you love people who have nothing better to do that troll the Internet and look for something to complain about?? When my son's custody ordeal was in full swing, my mother actually got on the stand and told everyone I loved him less than I did my other children because I posted fewer photos of him on my blog. Seriously? THAT'S the measure of love??? Never mind the fact that digital cameras were a new thing and I had never had one before....all HIS baby photos were PHOTOS, not digital images. But I loved the other kids more. Ridiculous!
