Pt 4: Celebrating our family

Please join us in welcoming Amos to our family!

"Amos" (not his real name) is 10 years old and, like our other kids at home, he has Down syndrome.

So now we have triplets. .Ten year old triplets who could not be more different from one another.

We love you Amos! We can't wait to show you to the world!

(Since I know there will be plenty of questions, let me just say I will not be posting details about his first adoptive family, or why he was placed with us. When the adoption is final we'll be able to post full pictures of him and use his real name. Since I know it will be asked at some point, and the haters are still gonna hate, I will just say that yes, I can still go anywhere by myself with all the kids. :-)

I do not understand why ANYONE would could or should hate this.
What an amazing brave woman!
When is kindness and love frowned on.
Blessed Amos.
To find a family like yours.

People only hate because they feel inadequate to handle what you are living. I think it's great! Congrats on your new arrival! I can't wait to see the sweet face behind that imoji :).

I've been a "lurker" on your blog for the last few weeks (which means I've been reading it in backwards order since I found it at every.spare.minute), and I just have to say that your family is so, SO amazing.
Also- you may be a genius. I love the creative ways you get your kids to come out of their shells, and how patient you are with redirecting their behaviors. They are so lucky to have you as a mom. Until very recently, I worked in a group home setting with ds adults and I only wish they could have each had someone in their family advocating for them as strongly as you do for your children!
So... In the least creepy way possible, if you ever get the urge to let an Internet stranger into your house to learn and help with anything, I'm you're girl!

Speaking on behalf of the "haters", what we "hate" is seeing people pumping Rescue Adoption as a religious obligation to people who otherwise have no desire to adopt at all-- and are completely unprepared for the reality of older child international adoption. We hate the peer pressure that leads PAPs (Prospective Adoptive Parents) to think that they can emulate popular multi-adoption bloggers, because they have love and Jesus, and that's all that's needed. We hate the predictable tragedies that occur from approving such clueless parents to adopt, which include not only legal, responsible disruptions, but sub rosa rehomings to pedophiles over the internet, child abuse, and death.

We don't hate the people (except for a few slimeballs); we hate the machine, and want to get it turned off before anyone else gets hurt.
